Dr. Brent Logan

Dr. Brent Logan has devoted much of his life to the study of fetal enrichment, and pioneered early learning research through Prenatal Institute in Seattle, which he directs. Dr. Logan is the inventor of BabyPlus and a principle theorist for prenatal stimulation. His articles on the subject have appeared in leading professional publications, and his discoveries have been profiled in hundreds of media reports. His work was featured in an hour documentary entitled "Brave New Babies," narrated by British actress Miranda Richardson and broadcast in a number of countries as well as repeatedly on The Learning Channel.

He served on the advisory board of the International Society for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology in Heidelberg, Germany, and was the founder and co-director of the International Society for Prenatal Learning and Bonding. He was made an adjunct professor by Centro de Estudios Mediterrano-Puig, in Valencia, Spain, where he helped start the first course for nurses in prenatal enrichment.

Following undergraduate studies at Occidental College in Los Angeles and three years as an army photojournalist in Germany, he received B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from the University of Washington, along with an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa, then completed all coursework toward his doctorate at the University of Washington, where he taught for several years, as well as at public and private schools. However, at that point he felt more urgent community needs could be addressed by directing social service agencies--attending neglected and delinquent youth, minorities, battered women, foreign students, and the mentally ill--for 15 years, during which time he assisted psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and counselors, discovering that his love of literature was really a search for the origins of human capacity and behavior (how the hero or antihero becomes such) . . . nature in combination with nurture. Returning to higher education, he was awarded a developmental psychology Ph.D. from Somerset University, Ilminster, UK, specializing in human fetology; his dissertation was "Neurogenetic Effects of Sonic Imprinting."

When not speaking worldwide before professional groups or the public, Brent Logan resides in the American Pacific Northwest with his wife, Karin Müller; all three of their grandchildren experienced BabyPlus prenatally.
